  • 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: chopped green onions and sesame seeds for garnish


  • In a little bowl, mix soy sauce, ketchup, honey, garlic, ginger, vegetable oil, salt and pepper until they are blended thoroughly.
  • Put the chicken breast in a resealable plastic bag or in a flat dish. Pour the marinade over the chicken, until evenly coated. Then, cover the dish or seal the bag and put it in the refrigerator for a minimum of an hour or preferably overnight.
  • Set the temperature of the oven to medium-high heat.
  • While grilling, add a little oil on the grill bars. If you are baking, set the temperature of the oven to 375 F (190 C) and cover the baking sheet with aluminum foil or parchment paper.
  • Take the chicken out of the marinade, shaking off any excess then put it in the baking sheet or on the grill.
  • Grill the chicken for 6-8 minutes each side, until it is done and the juices are clear or bake it in the preheated oven for around 20-25 minutes or until cooked thoroughly, make sure to flip it halfway.
  • Once cooked, take the chicken out from the grill and let it rest for few minutes.
  • You can garnish with sesame seeds and green onions and serve it warm with side dishes.
