Prepare the beans
First of all, rinse the beans with cold water to remove any dirt particle.
In a pot, add chopped onion, beans, water and minced garlic.
Heat the mixture until it starts boiling, then reduce the heat and cook it for around 1-1.5 hours until the beans are soft. Stir the mixture and add water as required.

Prepare the cornbread
Set the temperature of the oven to 200 C (400 F) and grease a baking sheet.
In a bowl, add flour, cornmeal, salt and baking powder.
In a separate bowl, mix vegetable oil, milk, sugar and eggs.
Now, add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, but avoid overmixing it. Pour the batter into the baking sheet and ensure even spreading.
Bake for around 20-25 minutes until the cornbread is brown and the toothpick inserted at the center comes out clean.
