- 6 cups 1.5 liters water
- Salt and pepper to taste

- 1 cup 120g cornmeal
- 1 cup 125g all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup 240ml milk
- 1/4 cup 60ml vegetable oil
- 1/4 cup 60g sugar (optional, for sweeter cornbread)
- 2 eggs
