Ingredients

  • 1 cup raw almonds soaked overnight or for at least 4 hours
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon nutritional yeast
  • 1 teaspoon tamari or soy sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon chili powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: 1 tablespoon fresh herbs like parsley or cilantro chopped

Instructions

  • First of all, drain and rinse the soaked almonds.
  • In a blender, put the almonds, olive oil, water, lemon juice, soy sauce, garlic, nutritional yeast, paprika, cumin, chili powder, salt and pepper.
  • Mix the ingredients until creamy and smooth. Make sure to scrap the mix from the side of the blender. If the mixture is too thick, you can put a little water, one tablespoon at a time, until it reaches your desired level of consistency.
  • Now, taste the sauce and adjust the seasoning accordingly. You can include more lemon juice, salt and pepper or spices.
  • If you are using the fresh herbs mix them into the sauce until thoroughly combined.
  • Transfer the sauce into an air-tight container or in a jar and put it in the refrigerator for at least an hour before serving. It allows the flavor meld flavor.
  • It’s time to serve the bitchin sauce. You can try it with tacos, burritos, sandwiches or bowls.
