Curtido Recipe

Curtido is an importantcomponent of Salvadoran cuisine, tangy and slightly spicy pickled cabbage slaw.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 carrot shredded
  • 1 medium onion chopped
  • 1 Jalapeno pepper seeded and chopped
  • 1 head green cabbage shredded
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 cup apple cider vinegar

Instructions
 

  •  In a large bowl, add cabbage, onion, carrot, jalapeno pepper and salt.
  • In another bowl, mix water and apple cider vinegar.
  • After adding the vinegar mixture over cabbage mixture, toss to coat.
  • Now just cover the bowl and allow the curtido sit at room temperature for at least 24 hrs and up to a week.
