- 1 cup Martha White Self-Rising Enriched White Cornmeal Mix
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1 large egg
Set the temperature of oven to 425 F (220 C).
Put some oil or butter on a 8 inch square baking pan or similar sized cast iron skillet.
In a bowl, mix the Martha white self rising enriched white cornmeal mix with the all-purpose flour.
Now, mix vegetable oil, buttermilk and eggs with the dry ingredients. Mix just until combined. Make sure to avoid overmixing, it’s fine if the batter is slightly lumpy.
Put the batter into the skillet or the baking pan.
Place it in the oven until the top turns golden brown it may take around 20-25 minutes and the toothpick inserted at the center comes out clean.
Allow the cornbread cool before slicing and serving. You can enjoy it hot with your favorite toppings like butter.
