Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups self-rising flour
  • 1/4 cup cold unsalted butter cut into small cubes
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 tablespoon sugar for a slightly sweeter biscuit
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt omit if using salted butter
  • Extra flour for dusting

Instructions
 

  • Set the temperature of the oven to 450 F (230 C). Make a baking sheet by covering it with parchment paper.
  • In a big bowl, mix the sugar, self-rising flour and salt together.
  • Add the cold butter cubes to the flour mix. You can use yourfinger or pastry cutter to mix the butter into the flour until it looks similarto small crumbs. Aim for pea-sized pieces of butter spread out in the flour.
  • Make a hole in the middle of the flour mixture and add thebuttermilk. Stir with a help of spoon or fork until a soft dough forms. Makesure to avoid mix too much, the dough should be bit sticky.
  • Place the dough on a surface with flour. Now, add little bitextra flour on the top of dough and gently press to a rectangular shape about ½to ¾ inch thick.
  • You can either use a biscuit cutter or a floured glass tocut out biscuits from the dough. Press down to make the neat edges without twisting.Place the bisuit on the baking sheet by keeping them one inch apart.
  • Collect the leftover dough scrap, and press them together toprepare more biscuits.
  • Bake the biscuit in the oven until they’re tall and turngolden brown on top, it may take around 10-12 minutes.
